What is HHSBA?
HHSBA is a non-profit, volunteer based recreational youth Tball, Fastpitch Softball and Baseball organization in Huber Heights for boys ages 4-12 and girls ages 4-16
Is the board paid?
Our board is comprised of parent volunteers.
Does HHSBA have a fall/winter league or offer any camps, workshops or seminars over the summer?
Our league does not offer a fall/winter league or provide any camps, workshops or seminars.
Why do you need Team Sponsors?
Team sponsors are needed to help reduce the cost to play for the children.
Registration
When do sign-ups begin?
Registration always begins in January.
How do I register my son/daughter to play in HHSBA?
Show up at one of the live registration dates advertised on the HHGSA facebook page, website or click the register button at the top right hand corner of this website.
How much does it cost to register my child?
The fees are $65for Tball and $100 for Softball and $115 for Baseball. Online will include a credit card fee. (This fee can vary from year to year but should remain similar)
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, and credit card.
What do I need to bring to registration?
You need to bring payment (cash, check or credit card), Birth Certificate(s) and know you child’s shirt and pant size. (Sample uniforms will be on display at live registration)
Do I need to bring the Birth Certificate every year?
No, once we have it on file, you will not need to bring it again.
Do you offer multiple child discounts?
Yes. $10.00 off for each additional child.
Why does it cost more to register online?
We are charged additional fees for online registrations including credit card processing fees. You are being charged these non-refundable fees.
What is the age cutoff date?
Ages are determined by how old your child is on January 1st of the current year.
My child is a good athlete, can she play up a division?
Yes.
My child would like to be on a team with his/her best friend or a coach we know. Can you accommodate these types of requests?
Because the coaches, parents and the league want fair and balanced teams, we cannot accommodate requests to satisfy carpooling, neighbor, friendship, coaching or other similar requests. You may request it but we cannot guarantee that it will happen.
Coaching
Who are the coaches for HHSBA?
Our coaches are parent volunteers.
Are there age requirements for being a coach?
Yes, head coaches must be at least 21 yrs of age and assistant coaches must be at least 18 yrs of age.
Is prior coaching experience required to coach a team?
Not at all, while experience helps - everyone has to start somewhere.
What is the time commitment involved with being a coach?
The time commitment consists of usually 1 to 2 games (around 1.5 hr) per week. There are usually a total of 10-12 regular season games plus tournament. Practices are 1-2 nights during the week (determined by the facilities manager) and last for one hour each.
I am interested in coaching my son's/daughter's team. How do I sign up for this?
Select volunteer during registration or go to Registration Info and select Volunteer Opportunities. You can also notify a board member during live registration.
Game Play
When does the season begin and end?
Practices begin in late March/early April. Games will begin early May. Our season usually consists of 10-12 games (weather permitting), and ends in late June.
How are the teams organized?
Teams are organized into boys and girls divisions by age level for children aged 3-14. The Divisions are: Tball Boys & girls 4-6, 8U Girls 7-8, 10U Girls 9-10, 12U Girls 11-12, 14U Girls 13-14. Baseball is 8U 7-8, 10U 9-10, 12U 11-12This is subject to change based on the number of children registered in each age group.
How are the teams formed?
We compile information obtained from the registration forms (age, experience, positions played etc.) as well as the board members' observations.
What equipment will my child need?
Batting helmet with mask for all ages except Tball, glove, cleats (recommended), field mask (recommended for 3rd, 1st and pitch). Bat, uniform, catchers gear will be provided by HHSBA.
When are the practices?
Practices are one hour long, 1 to 2 nights a week.
Where are practices held?
Practices are held at a Thomas Cloud Park.
When are the games played?
Games are played Monday – Friday at 6:30 pm some Saturday games.
Where are the games played?
Most games are at Thomas Cloud Park with some travel to Vandalia and Northmont.
Are there tournaments?
Tournaments are held for all divisions except Tball. Tournament games are single elimination and held at the end of league play.
